Mirissa is a beach city situated nearly 120km away from Colombo towards south and it is approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive by car in highway. Whale and dolphin watching there is very famous and best period is october to may.
There is a beautiful fisheries harbor with a colorful collection of boats in the viscinity and Mirissa can boast having the largest population of whales in Sri Lanka which will be excellent for snorkeling and surfing as well. This beach consists of a very special fine sand comparing to the other beaches in Sri Lanka and adhering this sand to our body will be very minimal.
On the same direction you can visit Yala game sanctuary where you can see wild animals like elephant and leapord.
